As mothers, we truly need to nurture a time to commune with the Divine, to find peace and tranquility, or just to go to for "quiet time". In my case, there are many places where God seems to speak to me.
I have found as I visit temples, churches, and other places of worship
that some are more fully endowed with His Spirit. This has been difficult for me to
understand. Wouldn’t all places of
worship have the same impact on me? From
what I learned that was not to be. I am
highly sensitive to places of worship that are older or ancient. I can literally feel a greater presence of the
Sacred in buildings associated with the wisdom traditions. I believe this may be due to the centuries of
constant worship in that location. The
area becomes infused with a genuine sacredness beyond description. Additionally, I have found that the desert,
where I live now, and the rainforest, where I was born inspire in me a
spiritual clarity I cannot find anywhere else.
This has happened in other natural settings like the ocean or the
mountains and forests, but never as intense as the desert and the rainforest. In the quietness of one, and the vibrant life
of the other God speaks to me. I can
meditate, pray, and understand things more clearly in these areas. I believe it has to do with the vibrational
quality of the areas. More recently I
have made an effort to create such a sacred space for my own use. I always shared an office with my husband who
is in a technical profession; however I am now blessed with an office of my
own. This allowed me to sanctify the
space. It is a space of healing, counseling,
meditation, and prayer. It is used solely
for the purpose of all things related to spirituality, and now after a few
months of having this space, I can walk in there and immediately feel a sense
of peace. In this small room I can now
hear God speak to me through the quiet still small voice of my heart.
