Love and sex and mommy life: Stress, illness and death. I want to run away!

Most mothers go, go, go. However, most parents of either gender seem to manage this busy schedule we face in contemporary American life relatively well. Whether you live in Los Angeles, SanBernardino, or Big Bear, Southern California has been so extremely hot the lastfew days that stress builds up, road rage increases, accidents occur, andeveryone wants to get away and get cool.…See More

Love and sex and mommy life: Moving on Memorial Day and other horror stories

I like to think of myself as an even tempered and organized person. As an immigrant child of blue collar workers who moved us every year, I hoped that one day I would grow up and live in a house with a yard, a garden I could tend year after year, 2.5 children, and a husband who came home with flowers at 5 p.m. to be greeted by me holding his martini. Yep, that is what I saw as a little girl in the 1960s, and what I hoped my life would be like.My grandmother who came to the United States to work…See More

Giving up full time career to stay at home

I find it hard to believe that here I am after 27 years since my first son was born, and I'm still putting my career second. At first I thought I would do this for a couple of years, but 2 years turned into 4 years, and by the time he was 5 I was back at work full time.  It did take a few months to get back into my career, but things were really looking up for me professionally after another couple of years.  Fast forward another 2 more and now my daughter arrived in 1990.  I thought I owed her…See More

Love and sex and mommy life: Do you have a physical space to commune with God?

As mothers, we truly need to nurture a time to commune with the Divine, to find peace and tranquility, or just to go to for "quiet time". In my case, there are many places where God seems to speak to me. I have found as I visit temples, churches, and other places of worshipthat some are more fully endowed with His Spirit. This has been difficult for me tounderstand. Wouldn’t all places ofworship have the same impact on me? Fromwhat I learned that was not to be. I amhighly sensitive to places of…See More

Love and sex and mommy life: How we honor our Divine Feminine on Mother's Day

When I was growing up, the woman’smovement was in full swing, and what came to be known as women’s liberationsimultaneously encouraged women to suppress many of their feminineinstincts. All things feminine weconsidered a sign of weakness, and it was expected that we as women shouldmodel ourselves, our careers, and even our attire to reflect our malecounterparts. Now, how in the world werewe supposedly “liberating the female” if that movement encouraged thedisappearance of the gentleness and…See More

Love and sex and mommy life: Teenagers are the true initiation into motherhood!

Raising teenagers has never been easy. Each generation has its own set of challenges, and ours is no exception. This time of season it is sometimes difficult to decide whether or not you should even “reward” your teenager with a holiday gift. After raising several children, obtaining a Master’s degree from the Institute of Transpersonal Psychology, and growing many gray hairs, I feel qualified to say that reaching out to your peers, family,…See More

Profile Information

What is your name? (First name is good; nick name is fine.)
Rev. Z
What city do you live in?
Rancho Cucamonga
Describe your family: (How many kiddos? Do you have pets? What is your family "into?" Baseball, camping, music?)
Proud momma to 2 adult kids, step-mom to 4 wonderful more. Grandma to 2 golden rays of sunshine, with another on the way! We have a dog that hates my husband, and a bearded dragon that my grandson adores! We're done with soccer, but still have a 13 and 14 year old left at home. We love to gourmet eat as a family, travel, and visit museums.
Your most precious "mom" moment:
My most precious mom moment was after 27 years of parenting my wonderful son, his girlfriend mentioned to me how much he appreciated everything I did for him as a single parent. Wow! It came through a 3rd party but I felt he finally really got it!
As a mother, the thing you struggle with most:
With my oldest being 27 and my youngest 13, it's hard to believe I've had to adjust parenting styles to accommodate the changing times (14 years difference is alot).... I get really frustrated with other parents who seem to give in and set a wrong standard for everybody!
What worries you?
I hope my grandchildren will have a better life than I was able to give my kids.
What do you do to pamper yourself?
Massages, pedicures, and manicures!
Mothering aside, what are you really great at?
Counseling others, officiating weddings and writing.
